Senapati, Sep 3 : A combined team of Tadubi police and 16 Assam Rifles arrested five individuals including a woman along with 187 soap cases containing brown sugar today around 1.30 am at Tadubi police checkpost along National Highway 2.
According to Senapati police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Azhanii Amos (35), s/o (L) Lohrii of Tunggam village Senapati; Pavei Peter (25) of Tunggam, Senapati; Pfokrehrii (35), s/o (L) Akho of Makhan Khuman Village, Senapati; Trioa Sebastian (25), s/o (L) Sheba of Tunggam village, Senapati and K Athini Sarah (43), w/o Ch Loli of Makhrelui Village, Senapati.
The arrested individuals were found carrying 187 soap cases of brown sugar, weighing 2.057 kilograms, hidden in the rooftop of two Gypsy vehicles.
The contraband was seized, and the accused were arrested in the presence of an Executive Magistrate.
The police also seized the two Gypsy vehicles and five mobile phones.
A case has been registered at Tadubi Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act for further investigation.
