IMPHAL, Sep 4: Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykisan has urged people to support the Government of India in its efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
He made this appeal during the inauguration of a week-long "JCI Week" of the Junior Chamber International, JCI Imphal Iconics at Thangmeiband today.
Before development and everything else, peace must first be restored in Manipur. The people must learn to forget and forgive to foster peaceful coexistence, bring development and prosperity, he said.
Peace has started to return to Manipur. At this juncture all parties should not indulge in "blame game" and avoid making communally charged rhetoric, Joykisan said.
The people should discard the habit of criticising every step of the Government. They should support all the steps being taken up by the Government of India to restore peace and normalcy, he said.
"If the Government of India is doing something good to restore peace, then we should support it fully," Joykisan said.
He then asserted that the fencing of the border with Myanmar is a good step and it must be supported by all the people of the State.
