Talk on Viksit Bharat held

Imphal, Sep 5 : Dr Sunil Kumar Mohanti, Prachar Pramukh of RSS Assam Kshetra has highlighted the five pillars (Pancha Parivartan) of social transformation crucial for building a strong and sustainable India.
A talk on “Pancha Parivartan and Viksit Bharat” was organised at the Committee Room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Manipur University jointly organised by the College Development Council, Ma-nipur University; Intellectual Forum of North East-Manipur and Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Manipur.
Delivering a lecture, Dr Sunil Kumar elaborated on the five pillars, namely, i) Parivar Prabodhan – value-based family system, ii) Paryavaran Sanrakshan – environmental protection, iii) Samajik Samarasata – social harmony, iv) Swadeshi – realising the selfhood of India and promoting indigenous products and v) Nagarik Kartavya – fulfilment of civic duties.
He spoke in detail about each of the five pillars.
Concluding his lecture, Dr Mohanti emphasised that transformation begins with the individual and urged academicians and citizens alike to lead by personal example.
In his presidential address, Professor Naorem Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MU, underlined the importance of nurturing India’s civilizational legacy. He described it as a form of “social capital” in modern terminology, vital for building a self-reliant and inclusive nation.
The session also sparked discussions among scholars about the relevance of Pancha Parivartan in the North East. Issues such as balancing tradition and modernity, ecological preservation in fragile hill ecosystems, and fostering inter-community harmony were seen as vital areas where these principles could be applied effectively.
The programme witnessed the participation of 56 academicians and scholars representing Manipur University, DM University, Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, and other institutions of higher learning.
