IMPHAL, Sep 5 : The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has imposed a ban on the results of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd) entrance examination and demanded a fresh consolidated merit list by September 10.
DESAM resolved to reject the results as the marks secured by the candidates were missing from the declared merit list.
The entrance exam was conducted across 10 DIET Centres in the State on August 17.
During a press meet held at DESAM Head Office this afternoon, Oinam Ramesh, secretary education, DESAM H/O said that the student body decided to raise the demand for a new merit list after receiving complaints from candidates of the entrance exam and looking into their grievances.
Terming the concealment of marks as a wrong move by the concerned authority, Oinam Ramesh pointed out that introducing "corruption, nepotism, favouritism" in selecting trainee teachers is a grave misconduct.
Alleging that the concealment of marks is proof of wrongdoing, he stressed that if the authorities of DIET Centres had come under the influence or intimidation of certain elements and engaged in misconduct, then it would be the right move to take corrective measures with the knowledge of the public.
He asserted that DESAM will ban the results of the DElEd entrance exam until a fresh merit list is issued.
