Consultation on effective implementation of JJ Act and POCSO held

Imphal, Sep 5 : The High Court of Manipur organized a State Level Stakeholders’ Consultation today at its auditorium on the theme “Effective Implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act and the POCSO Act with Specific Focus on Safeguarding Girl Child.”
The consultation was held under the aegis of the Juvenile Justice Committee, High Court of Manipur, in the presence of Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh, Chairperson of the Committee, and Justice Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, Member of the Committee, said a press note issued by Sheikh Aasif Shah, Deputy Registrar (Judicial), High Court of Manipur.
The event began with a welcome and keynote address by Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, followed by detailed deliberations by distinguished stakeholders, including judicial officers, senior medical experts, senior government officials, representatives from social welfare, education, police, child rights organizations, and legal experts.
Key discussions centered on i) strengthening mechanisms for the effective implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Act, ii) addressing challenges in safeguarding the rights of children, particularly girl children, iii) enhancing coordination among stakeholders for timely intervention and protection, iv) charting the way forward through collaborative action and policy recommendations.
The consultation concluded with an open discussion session on the progress achieved so far, the persisting challenges, and potential opportunities for reform.
