IMPHAL, Sep 8: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur, Central Headquarters (TYCM-CHQ) has urged the concerned State authority to address the issues prevailing at Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Limited (MTDC) including unpaid salary, overgrown and waterlogged office complex and absence of staff at their designated office.
According to a press release, a TYCM-CHQ team led by general secretary Robert Gonmei inspected the MTDC office located at Lamphel along with media personnel today.
During the inspection, the team found that the MTDC staff had not received their salaries for 19 months, causing them to struggle to maintain their families, support their children and bear their own expenses while attending office.
The MTDC office complex was also discovered to have retained water and was overgrown with grass.
Additionally, the TYCM-CHQ team allegedly found that the General Manager and staff of MTDC did not attend their designated office and only a few employees were present occasionally. According to some employees, the General Manager and certain staff members reportedly worked from the Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills Department "due to the inconvenience caused at their designated office".
Under such circumstances, TYCM-CHQ has urged the concerned authorities of the State Government to release the pending salaries of the MTDC staff, clear the retained rainwater and overgrown grass and  instruct the staff to attend their designated office so as to ensure that the office functions effectively and smoothly in the larger interest of the tribal communities of Manipur.
