Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, along with Commandant of 08 BN CRPF, Anil Kumar Ram and renowned football coach Potsangbam Renedy Singh today inaugurated a Football Training Camp for Internally Displaced Children at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The three-month-long training camp is being organised by the District Administration, Bishnupur, in association with 08 Dett Bn CRPF, and is sponsored by NHIDCL.
A total of 35 children will receive football training under the guidance of International and National Level Certified Coaches, including Potsangbam Renedy Singh.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function, DC Pooja Elangbam stated that the camp is a foundational step towards producing skilled footballers who can represent the State and the Nation at the international level.
She urged the participating children to demonstrate their potential and enthusiasm so that the coaches can identify and nurture their talents to help them reach greater heights.
The DC encouraged the children to make full use of the opportunity and learn as much as possible from the coaches.
Highlighting Manipur’s rich sporting legacy, Pooja Elangbam said that the State is a powerhouse of sports, and this camp would enable the children to become part of that legacy.
She further emphasised that sports play a vital role in character building, teaching values such as teamwork, mutual support, resilience, and learning from failure.
The DC also thanked the NHIDCL and 08 Dett Bn CRPF for their support in organising such training camps for Internally displaced children.
As part of the inaugural programme, football jerseys and boots were distributed to the children. National-level footballers from Manipur were also present to encourage and inspire the young trainees.
