NESU, ESU win in 18th Manipur State League

IMPHAL, Jan 10 : Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei edged Youth Organisation Sporting Club (YOSC), Khurai 3-2 as North Easter Sporting Union (NESU), Khurai beat FC Raengdai, Noney by 3-1 goals in the Group A matches of the 18th Manipur State League staged today at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In the first match of the day, ESU who won 2-0 against XI Star SU in their league opener, rode on a double from M Prabin (2’, 60’) and one goal from Taj Khan (64’) to seal the 3-2 win.
ESU’s Lamjingba Maibam had conceded an own goal in the 5th minute after Pravin found the opener in the 2nd minute to put YOSC on level terms.
YOSC also turned things around when Takhelmayum Bikramjit who came off the bench after 38 minutes converted a penalty in the 49th minute but Pravin rose to the occasion yet again and had his double to draw level in the 60th minute before Taj Khan netted the winner 4 minutes later.
Later in the day, NESU entered into the break with a 2-0 advantage as Sapam Ton and Irengbam Nongdamba took their turns in the 22nd and the 24th minute before Leishangthem Ajay further extended the lead to 3-0 after 61 minutes.
FC Raengdai found the consolation goal through Wahengbam James in the 65th minute.
