22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket tournament YWC squeeze into quarters despite 4 wicket loss to KSDO

IMPHAL, Jan 10 : YWC, Langthabal finished Group C runners up despite a 4-wicket loss to KSDO, Kyamgei in the final league match of the 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament to reach the quarterfinals.
YWC, who chose to bat first, had a disastrous innings and  slumped to 67 all out in 17.3 overs with Abdul Khalique (3/20), Akbar (2/21), Noushad Ali (2/15), and Himat (2/25) of KSDO running riot.
KSDO then chased down the target in 23.2 overs even as Prakashmani (2/2 in 6 overs), Samananda (2/17), Sasi (1/11), and Dinachandra (1/24) shared 6 wickets for YWC.
For YWC, Sasi was the top scorer on 23 runs off 27 balls before Riyajuddin 19 not out, Sabir Ahmed 14, and Abdul Khalique 12 set up the KSDO victory.
Abdul Khalique of KSDO was declared man of the match.
The quarterfinal line up of the tournament was completed with the end of the league stage.
Group A winners NAPSA will play Group B runners up TCMDC in the first quarterfinal match on January 12 before Group B winners YPHU-Warriors take on Group A runners up YCC in the second quarterfinal match on January 13.
Group C winners, REYS meanwhile play Group D runners up CHAMP in the third quarterfinal match before Group D winners SU meet Group C runners up YWC in the last quarterfinal match.
