39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament Kakching District PA, MPSC-A, Black Watch PC-A reach Round of 16

IMPHAL, Jan 9 : Kakching District Polo Association (KDPA), MPSC-A, and Black Watch PC-A secured first round victories to reach the last-16 stage of the ongoing 39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament.
In the first match of the day, KDPA edged out Paradise PC by 3-2 goals to set up a pre-quarterfinal date with MPSC-B who got a first round bye.
Kh Tombi and M Thoithoiba scored a goal respectively in the 1st and the 3rd chukkers to earn KDPA a 2-0 lead but Paradise PC rode on L Suraj’s double in the fourth chukker to draw level and extend the game to fifth chukker.
Kh Tombi however found the winner 26 seconds into the deciding chukker to seal the 3-2 win for KDPA.
In the second match, MPSC-A rode on goals from O Suresh (4 goals), M Jawan (3 goals), S Bimol (2 goals), S Abungcha (2 goals), and Th Ranjit (1 goal) to outlast Nambul Mapal PC-A 12-2.
MPSC-A led the first chukker 4-0 before cruising to 6-1 after two chukkers as Longjam Artek scored one for the losing side in the 2nd chukker.
MPSC-A then raced to a 10-2 lead after three chukkers as Abhujam Bijoy scored Nambul Mapal PC-B’s second and final goal in the third chukker before MPSC-A added two more goals in the final chukker.
With the win, MPSC-A set up a pre-quarterfinal date with Thangmeiband Youth PC.
Later in the third match, Black Watch PC-A demolished Universal PC-A by 10-1 goals courtesy of 6 goals from M Chaoba. Kh Yaikhomba also added twice to the team’s tally as Kh Rivaldo and Th Nongpoknganba scored a goal apiece.
The lone goal for Universal PC-A was scored by K Pandit in the second chukker.
With the victory, Black Watch PC-A set up a pre-quarterfinal date with K&MM RS-B.
