IMPHAL, Jan 9 : Manipur settled for the third place in the 69th National School Games Volleyball for the U-14 boys that concluded today at Paonta Sahib, Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh.
Manipur suffered 0-3 loss to Uttar Pradesh in the semi-finals to end up with the third place finish today.
Manipur registered comprehensive straight sets victory over Bihar, IPSC, and Chhattisgarh in the league stage of the tournament (Pool D) to qualify for the pre-quarterfinals.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Manipur defeated Assam in straight sets before securing a similar win in the quarterfinals against Jharkhand to reach the last-4 stage.
Mayanglambam Sahinoor, Atom Rohit, Dolaipaibam Alamkhan, Laimayum Robinson, Nongmaithem Mangal, Bogimayum Sajad, Kambam Rameshor, Laishram Tenheiba, Laishram Nelson, Yangambam Paikhomba, Naorem Mani and Oinam Nganba were the young players who represented Manipur at the games.
The team were led by W Romendrajit as manager and T Captain Mangang as coach.
