Fitting salutes paid

IMPHAL, Jan 9 : The death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh was observed today by several organizations, including Chahi Taret Khuntakpa, Iningthou Gambhir Singh Amadi Athoubasing Ning-shing Lup, Athoubasing Liklam Thiba Lup, Imagee Meira (Ichageedamak), Lang-thabal Kendra Clubs' Coordinating Committee, and Langthabal Kendra Meira Paibi Coordinating Committee at Langthabal.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koi-jam, veteran politician O Joy, former Minister L Jayentakumar, former MLAs Y Surchandra, RK Anand, Dr Ng Bijoy, Advocate Khaidem Mani, and former rebel leader RK Meghen, among others.
The observance began by offering floral tributes to Maharaj Gambhir Singh, Narsingh Hirachandra, and other bravehearts who fought to restore the sovereignty of Kangleipak.
During the event, a pledge was also taken to safeguard Manipur, even at the cost of their lives.
Speaking at the function, O Joy said that the current situation in Manipur is reminiscent of the period of Chahi Taret Khuntakpa, as thousands of people are still unable to return to their homes.
He emphasized that this is a time when unity among the people of Manipur is crucial to overcome the forces working against the State.
