Bullets whizz through Imphal sky

IMPHAL, Jan 9 : Unidentified armed persons opened fire at three different locations in Imphal West today.
Unidentified armed persons fired a single round at the residence of Yumnam Kunjomani alias Kunjo (55) s/o Manaobi of Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai at around 11 am.
Kunjomani alias Kunjo is said to be a former Zilla Parishad Member of Changangei-Sangaiprou Zilla Parishad.
A case has been registered at Singjamei police station in connection with the incident.
At around 11.20 am, an unknown man opened fire at the residence of Ningthou-jam (ongbi) Binakumari Leima (50) w/o N Radheshyam Singh of Ghari Makha Leikai.
Sources said that Binakumari Leima is an intending candidate for the next State Assembly election.
Lamphel police have registered a case regarding the incident.
The third incident took place at the residence of Sorokhaibam Sijus (40) s/o late Nanda of Langjing Achouba at around 11.30 am.
Sorokhaibam Sijus is the Pradhan of Langjing Gram Panchayat and also the local MLA’s nominee.
An unknown person came on a two-wheeler (Honda Activa) and asked for the Pradhan’s house.
After asking whether the Pradhan was at home, the unknown person fired a single round of bullet toward the Pradhan’s residence.
But the bullet hit a neighbour’s house instead of the Pradhan’s.
Another case has been registered at Lamphel police station in connection with the incident. There is no report of any casualty in all the three incidents of firing.
