Victor settles for bronze at Elite Boxing Nationals, three bow out in quarterfinals

IMPHAL, Jan 10 : Saikhom Victor won Manipur a bronze medal at the 9th Elite National Men and Women’s Boxing Championship hosted by Uttar Pradesh in Noida.
Saikhom Victor suffered a semi-final loss in the men’s 55 kg category competition to seal the bronze medal.
Sadly, three other State boxers- Tompok, Sakil and Lanchenbi had to return empty handed as they suffered quarterfinal loss in their respective weight categories.
Manipur origin boxers M Jadumani, S Sanjit, and Th Sanamacha Chanu who represented SSCB and RSPB also shone at the championship to seal a medal apiece.
Jadumani defeated Boxing World Cup silver medallist Pawan Bhartwal to claim the men’s 55 kg category gold as S Sanjit of RSPB bagged a bronze medal. Th Sanamacha Chanu meanwhile claimed a silver medal for RSPB.
