5th MNCA Superplate Tournament PCC go top of Group A with 5-wicket win over TCMDC

IMPHAL, Jan 11 : PCC, Mayaikoibi pulled off a 5-wicket win over TCMDC, Thongju Pechu Lampak Part II at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground to temporarily go top of Group A in the 5th MNCA Superplate Tournament.
PCC chose wisely to field first after winning the toss and restricted TCMDC to 137/8 in the allotted 35 overs and chased down the target in 22.3 overs to earn their fourth win and remain unbeaten in five Group A league round matches.
PCC skipper Soubam Rohit (4/20 in 7 overs) and Mathurabashimayum Jobanta (3/24 in 7 overs) shared 7 crucial wickets and played key roles in deterring the TCMDC batters from making a big score today.
Charoibam Tyson (49 off 42; 6 fours and 2 sixes) and Longjam Ronald (46 off 47; 7 fours and 1 six) laid the foundation of a successful chase before Thokchom Anand added an unbeaten 17 to take the team to the winning 141 with 5 wickets left to spare.
Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma 35 off 41, Arshad Ali Shah 18 off 27, Maibam Ashokumar 16 not out, U Rain 15 off 41 and Takhellambam Nganba 15 off 45 led the scoring for TCMDC earlier in the first innings before Laishram Vivekananda returned with the best haul of 3/25 in 5 overs.
Soubam Rohit who led the PCC bowling attack was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong, WYC Thoubal Wangkhem concluded their Group B campaign by defeating NCA, Ningthoukhong by 9 wickets for the third win .
Toss winners NCA were bundled out for 147 runs in 33.1 overs despite leading knocks from Yumnam Bobby 47 off 79 and Moirangthem Karamchand 31 off 29 as Thoudam Roshankumar (4/17 in 4.1 overs), Wangkhem Laksmon (2/22 in 7 overs), Gotimayum Mangi Sharma (2/26 in 6 overs), and Nongmaithem Ruhit (2/31 in 7 overs) ran riot with the ball for WYC.
In reply, Wangkhem Shamungou 53 not out off 49 and Thokchom Priyananda 61 off 35 gathered 74 runs for the first wicket in 9.3 overs before Moirangthem Prameshwor 31 not out off 20 joined Shamungou to post the winning 150/1 in 17.1 overs.
Thoudam Roshankumar of WYC was named player of the match.
