39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament AR Polo Team-B trounce Black Watch PC-B 9-1 to book quarterfinal ticket

IMPHAL, Jan 12 : AR Polo Team-B outlasted Black Watch PC-B by 9-1 goals to book their quarterfinal ticket in the 39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament being organised by the All Manipur Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Naoba scored 6 goals to fashion AR Polo Team-B the huge win today as Premananda scored twice and Mangalsana added one.
Naoba struck four goals in the opening chukker while Premananda scored one to earn AR Polo Team-B a 5-0 first chukker lead before K Romeo pulled back a goal for Black Watch PC-B 23 seconds into the second chukker to make it 1-5.
After drawing nil in the second chukker, AR Polo Team-B rode on Mangalsana’s lone strike to take a 6-1 lead before Premananda scored one and Naoba added two in the final chukker to make it 9-1 in favour of their team.
Earlier in the day, MPSC-B prevailed 10-1 over Kakching District Polo Association to set up a pre-quarterfinal date with Luwangpokpa PC.
Abung Khuman shone in the match as he scored four goals followed by T Pradeepkumar who scored thrice in the last two chukkers.
Abung Khuman, Kh Nongpoknganba and T Roshan added a goal apiece in the opening chukker to take a 3-0 lead before T Roshan completed his double and Abung Khuman scored twice to make it 6-0 in two chukkers.
The third chukker saw Abung adding his fourth goal and T Pradeepkumar scoring twice against one scored by Kh Dayananda for the Kakching side to take a 9-1 lead.
Pradeepkumar then hit the final nail to the coffin in the final minute of the final chukker.
In the third match of the day, X-Polo Club notched up a huge 16-3 win over New Vision Polo Club, Yairipok as Th Santosh impressed with 7 goals across all the four chukkers.
Th Jacob (3), L Atangba (2), and P Ojit (2) also contributed 7 goals in the team’s victory while L Kokeshwor and T Herojit chipped in a goal apiece.
For New Vision PC, Jaminikanta scored twice and Bonny Sharma added one.
With the win, X-Polo Club set up a pre-quarterfinal date with K&MM RS-A.
