IMPHAL, Jan 12 : Krishna scored a 54-ball 78 to steer TCMDC, Thongju past NAPSA, Kha Imphal by 5 wickets in the first quarterfinal match of the 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground.
TCMDC let NAPSA to bat first and restricted them to 156/8 in the allotted 30 overs before TCMDC cruised to the target in 25.2 overs thanks to the half century knock of Krishna.
Ibobi scored an unbeaten 38 off 53 balls as Bhogendro 25 off 32, Somorendro 17 off 23, Ratan 15 off 13, Premananda 14 off 18, and Puspen 12 off 15 followed suit.
For TCMDC, Sanjit picked three wickets as Krishna and Brajakumar claimed a wicket apiece.
In reply, Krishna set the momentum with a 78-ball 54 before Bijesh 18 not out off 33 and Sanjit 12 not out off 9 finished off the chase despite Puthiba claiming three wickets (3/29) for NAPSA.
Krishna was declared man of the match.
YPHU-Warrior will play YCC, Wangkhei in the second quarterfinal match tomorrow.
