IMPHAL, Jan 13 : YCC, Wangkhei pulled off a thrilling 1-run quarterfinal victory over YPHU-Warrior (W) to book their semi-final ticket in the 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2025-26 today at Langthabal Public Ground.
Asked to bat first, YCC raised a respectable total of 190 for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 30 overs before YPHU-W ended up gathering 189/9 in the chase to bite the dust.
Loya quickfired 62 off 36 balls to lift YCC to 190 with Itombi 25 not out off 25 after Pritam Shrama 41 off 47 and Binishan 33 off 46 made valuable contributions in an innings that saw Heromen (2/39), Dularva (1/32), and Bikram (1/33) sharing 4 wickets for YPHU-W.
In reply, Romeo produced a brilliant knock of 81 runs off 55 balls and Hemanta added 35 off 25 but their efforts fell short as YCC bowling unit led by Everest (3/19 in 6 overs) succeeded in restricting them to 189/9.
Sanjit Laishram (1/47) and Itombi (1/24) also chipped in a wicket apiece for YCC in this innings.
Loya of YCC who shone with the bat was adjudged man of the match.
REYS, Nagamapal will play CHAMP, Khagempalli in the next quarterfinal match tomorrow.
