The Comfort of the Old

Dr Ranbir Laishram
When I was young,
I wanted new things,
Tossed aside the worn and faded
Chased after shine and style.

But as the years have passed,
I reach for what feels like home:
A soft shirt, a scuffed pair of shoes,
Familiar, gentle, known.

My closet holds so many choices,
Yet I wear the same few,
Not because they're perfect,
But because they're part of me.

Maybe it's the memories,
Maybe it's the comfort,
Old threads, old laughter,
Woven into who I am.

Life moves forward,
But I find comfort in the old—
Not just in what I wear,
But in the friendships I hold.
