IMPHAL, Jan 19 : The Deputy Director General (DDG), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), RO, Guwahati Ngachan Zimik has highlighted the progress of Aadhaar enrolment in Manipur, depicting an upward trend not only in enrolment, but updates, and usage across the State and other key focus areas requiring immediate attention at the State-Level Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) meeting for 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel as per a press release.
Senior officials from UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati, including Colonel Abhishek Koushik, Director, UIDAI, RO, Guwahati along with Heads of Departments of the Government of Manipur, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Ngachan Zimik, DDG, UIDAI outlined key focus areas, including: i) accelerating Aadhaar enrolment for children (0–5 years) through Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) at health facilities and birth registration units, ii) improving enrolment in low-saturation districts such as Ukhrul, Kamjong, Tamenglong, Noney, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Senapati, and Kangpokpi, iii) conducting Mission Mode Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) camps in schools, especially in districts with low MBU coverage, iv) exploring the feasibility of all State issued documents in digitally verifiable form, v) exploring the feasibility of incorporating QR codes in digitised documents for easy verification and vi) expanding the use of Aadhaar authentication for transparent and efficient service delivery.
He further informed that a new ASK (Aadhaar Seva Kendra) is being opened in Imphal shortly as part of the initiative taken by UIDAI Authority to make it more accessible and provide better services to the people of the State.
Concluding the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments and the UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati.
Stating that the meeting was highly productive, he directed all departments to take prompt and time-bound action on the key issues discussed to ensure effective achievement of Aadhaar-related targets in the State.
