Somdal, Phalee, Maichon and Teinem reach semis

IMPHAL, Jan 19 : Teams from Somdal, Phalee, Maichon and Teinem are through to the men’s football semi-finals of  XI Zingtun Longphang Sports, Literary and Cultural Festival being hosted by Phalee village.
In the first quarterfinal match of the tournament, Somdal reached the semi-finals with a 4-0 thrashing of Lamlang. Hormipam (15’) and Thotreising (39’) earned Somdal a 2-0 first half lead before Khayam (47’) and Rorshon (68’) grabbed a goal apiece in the second half.
In the second quarterfinal match,  Chingya (15’) and Wunghan (46’, 74’) scored to earn Maichon a 3-0 win over T Chanhong.
In the third quarterfinal match, Teinem edged out Sirarakhong by 5-4 goals on penalties after they played out a goalless draw in the regulation time.
Mahaimung, Somishing, Kanhor, Khayingpam, and Phil found the target for Teinem in the penalty shoot-out as Yami, Chingriyo, Themmungm and Chijami scored for the Sirarakhong team.
With the win, Teinem set up a semi-final date with Maichon.
Later in the last quarterfinal match, Phalee rode on Thanreishok’s 46th minute strike and Nganao Khapai’s 51st minute own goal to edge out the Seikhor team whose Akui  found the breakthrough early in the 6th minute.
With the win, Phalee set up a semi-final date with Somdal.
