Elderly woman found brutally murdered

IMPHAL, Jan 20: In yet another incident of heinous crime, a 78-year old woman has been found brutally murdered inside her own house located at Singjamei Oinam Thingel today afternoon and her body wrapped with clothes was found under her own bed.
The deceased woman has been identified as Oinam (ningol) Thoibi Devi alias Pishakcha d/o (L) Ibom-chamubi of Singjamei Oinam Leikai.
Oinam Bimola, younger sister of the deceased, said that she was informed by members of her parental family that the deceased was not seen in her house and in the locality from Saturday.
Bimola went to her parental home looking for her elder sister but failed to find Thoibi in the house and nearby areas.
Bimola, some family members and local people continued their search for Thoibi today too and they found the body of Thoibi wrapped in a cloth under her bed this afternoon. Soon, they informed Singjamei police station.
A team of Singjamei police station arrived on the spot and cordoned off the area and waited for the State forensic expert team to conduct an inquest of the dead body and its surrounding area.
A team of forensic experts conducted an inquest of the dead body and its surrounding area in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Imphal West.
During the inquest of the dead body, multiple stabbing marks were found on the face and body of the woman.
Moreover, the woman’s throat was also found slit and right hand fingers were chopped.
After completion of the inquest, the dead body was picked up by a team of Singjamei police station and deposited at RIMS morgue for post mortem.
Singjamei police have registered a case regarding the incident for proper investigation.
Local MLA Yumnam Khemchand and the SP Imphal West visited the incident site.  
Taking strong exception to the brutal murder of the elderly woman, an emergency meeting of local people was held at the premises of Eikhoigee Club, Oinam Thingel this evening.
The meeting resolved to form a JAC christened Joint Action Committee Against Brutal Killing of Oinam (ningol) Thoibi alias Pishak-cha to assist in the investi- gation of the brutal murder.
The meeting also resolved to banish the murderer(s) from the locality once they are identified.
The meeting further resolved to banish the families of the murderers or any other families if they are found sheltering the murderers.
