Zingtun Longphang Sports Meet Somdal vs Teinem in men’s football final

IMPHAL, Jan 20 : Somdal will play Teinem in the title clash of the men’s football competition in the XI Zingtun Longphang Sports, Literary and Cultural Festival being hosted by Phalee village, Ukhrul district.
In the first semi-final match, Somdal beat Phalee by 4-3 goals on penalties after a 1-1 regulation time to book their final ticket.
After a goalless first half, Hormipam put Somdal ahead in the 73rd minute but Kapangkhui came to Phalee’s rescue and scored the equaliser in the 80th minute.
With the two sides remaining unseparated in the regulation time, the winners were decided via penalty shoot-out where in Hormipam, Chikanmi, Thangsomi, and Rinthing scored to give Somdal the 4-3 win. For Phalee, only Sakrum, Mashungam and Vareithing were on target.
In the second semi-final match, Khareimung found the lead for Maichon in the 26th minute but Mashungpei drew level for Teinem 2 minutes into the added time of the first half (40+2’) before Nganaomi overturned the lead in the 58th minute.
Teinem then overcame late Maichom charges to see out the game 2-1 and set up the final date with Somdal.
