Motor theft racket

IMPHAL, Jan 20: A key player in an inter-State vehicle theft racket identified as Md Juma Khan (39) has been arrested by State police and CRPF Sector QAT.
Md Juma Khan hails from Yairipok Bishnunaha. He is a wanted offender in multiple serious cases and a key player of a vehicle theft ring, said the police.
His arrest came after requisition from Crime Branch, Delhi Police, said the police.
Notably, 6 vehicles stolen from outside the State were recovered from Churachandpur and Imphal West districts today. The vehicles were recovered in an operation carried out following specific inputs from Delhi police.
The operation was carried out with the assistance of ICICI Lombard Insurance Company and technical support, said the police.
The recovered vehicles have been handed over to the police stations concerned, and coordination with originating States is underway for recovery formalities, said the police.
Further efforts are on to locate and recover stolen vehicles from different areas of the State, added the police.
