Poppy plants destroyed

IMPHAL, Jan 20 : Security forces and Forest personnel destroyed 10 acres of opium poppy plantations at Khamsom hill range under Senapati district today.
Personnel of the Senapati PS, Reserve Line Senapati, CRPF, Forest Department conducted the operation in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.
During the operation, the personnel also destroyed and burnt herbicides, salts packages and equipment used in poppy cultivation at the site.
A case has been registered, and efforts are on to identify the persons responsible for the cultivation, said Senapati police.
