GP Women’s College to host memorial lecture

IMPHAL, Jan 22 : The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Physics of GP Women’s College, DM University, in association with the Research Institute of Science & Technology (RIST), Manipur University, have announced the second edition of the Professor A Surjalal Sharma Memorial Lecture.
As per a release issued by RIST, the event will be held on January 23, 2026 at 11 am in the Library Hall of GP Women’s College, Imphal.
The memorial lecture, titled “The Lights of the Firefly”, will be delivered by Prof Anurup Gohain Barua, former Head and Professor of the Department of Physics at Gauhati University, Guwahati.
Prof Barua will illuminate the fascinating bioluminescent mechanisms of fireflies.
Following the lecture, the session will feature an interactive Question and Answer segment, delving deeper into how fireflies produce their characteristic glow.
