SpiceJet opens flight bookings sans final nod from AAI, Imphal

IMPHAL, Jan 24 : SpiceJet has opened online bookings for tickets from February 10, 2026 with plans to operate daily flights on the Kolkata–Imphal–Guwahati–Imphal–Kolkata sector, according to the Imphal Airport handle on FaceBook even though the final agreement is yet to be signed.
Necessary arrangements for allocation of the required space to the airline, coun-ters, backup office, security clearance etc to start flight operations at Imphal Airport are still in progress between the two parties (not yet finalised), yet SpiceJet has gone ahead and started online bookings.
While the slot allotment for SpiceJet to commence operations from Imphal Airport with effect from February 10 has reportedly been approved, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Imphal has not yet signed the final agreement with the airline.
A screenshot shared by the Imphal Airport on FaceBook also shows a SpiceJet flight from Imphal to Guwahati for February 10 (1.35 pm-2.20 pm) available for booking at Rs 3,999.
Despite ticket sales going online, Imphal Airport has notified that SpiceJet and Airports Authority of India (AAI), Imphal are still in the process of completing the final formalities for commencement of flight service at Imphal Airport. Most significantly, AAI Imphal has not yet signed the agreement and no official date for commencement of operations has been announced from their side so far.
However, as the airline has released tickets online, passengers are advised to wait for official updates and confirmation before planning their travel arrange- ments, said AAI, Imphal.
According to Imphal Airport, further updates regarding the confirmed date of commencement of operations from Imphal Airport will be communicated in due course.
