IMPHAL, Jan 25: The body of Mayanglambam Rishi-kanta, killed by Kuki mili- tants, was claimed by family members from JNIMS morgue for last rites this afternoon.
Mayanglambam Rishi-kanta was the son of M Tombi of Kakching Khunou Uchal Makhong Leikai.
He was abducted by armed Kuki militants from his fiancee's house in Churachandpur on January 21 night at around 6.30, and shot dead the same night at around 10 somewhere in the hills of Natjang, under the jurisdiction of Henglep police station, Churachandpur.
The body was kept at JNIMS morgue from January 22 night after Churachandpur district police handed over it to Kakching district police after postmortem was conducted at District Hospital Churachandpur.
A large number of people from his locality including members of his family and JAC received the body at JNIMS this afternoon.
