KAKCHING, Jan 27: The inclusion of the name Ginminthang as an alias of Mayanglambam Rishikanta in a Government statement has angered family members and the Peoples Democratic Front.
Mayanglambam Rishi-kanta was abducted by armed Kuki militants from the residence of his fiancee at Tuibong in Chura-chandpur on January 21 and executed at night.
He hailed from Kakching Khunou Uchan Makhong Leikai.
At the residence of Rishi-kanta today, People's Democratic Front Women Wing general secretary Premita Devi Wayengbam said the front condemns the killing and is urging the Government and its relevant authorities to identify and arrest the culprits involved.
Further, Premita said, her organisation and the family members condemn and take the inclusion of Ginminthang as an alias for Rishikanta in Government statements very seriously.
Premita said the statement which referred to Ginminthang as an alias for Mayanglambam Rishikanta was issued by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home) N Ashok Kumar on January 23.
Mayanglambam Amarjit, the elder brother of Mayanglambam Rishikanta, said referring to his brother as Ginminthang is unfortunate and unacceptable.
Rishikanta was born into the Mayanglambam clan. Calling and addressing him otherwise is unacceptable, Amarjit said, appealing to all concerned and the Government authorities to refrain from using any aliases other than the original name.
