State boys and girls settle for team event runners up titles at Junior Sepaktakraw Nationals

IMPHAL, Jan 2 : Both the State boys and girls had to settle with the runners up titles in the team event of the 29th Junior National Sepaktakraw Championships that began yesterday at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara in Punjab.
State boys suffered a 0-2 (16-17, 9-15 in first regu and 13-15, 15-10, 4-15 in second regu) loss to Delhi in the final today to end up with the silver medal after a promising start in the league round.
Manipur reached the final today with a 2-1 win (12-15, 15-11, 13-15 in 1st regu; 15-6, 15-13 in second regu; 15-2, 15-6 in third regu) over Nagaland.
Earlier in the league round, Manipur secured 3-0 wins over Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh before defeating Bihar 2-1 in the third match to qualify for the semis.
Manipur girls also missed out on the gold medal as they lost 0-2 to Kerala in the final. They lost 15-10, 12-15, 15-17 in the first regu and 13-15, 15-17 in the second regu.
Manipur beat Andhra Pradesh in the semi-final to reach the final today after securing 3-0 wins over Delhi, Odisha and Haryana in the league round yesterday.
