IMPHAL, Jan 4 : Having settled for team event runners up titles, State junior Sepaktakraw team continued their hunt for medals and added three more medals to their tally on the fourth day of the 29th Junior National Sepaktakraw Championships being underway at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara in Punjab.
While the State girls won a gold medal in the Quad event and a silver medal in the Regu event, the boys secured the Regu event gold and assured themselves of at least a silver medal by reaching the Quad event final.
In the Quad event for girls, Manipur defeated MP by 2-1 sets before defeating Rajasthan and Uttarakhand in straight sets to qualify for the quarterfinal.
In the quarterfinal, Manipur defeated West Bengal 15-3, 15-6 and overcame Kerala 17-15, 15-8 in the semi-final to set up the final date with Nagaland. In the final, Manipur prevailed 15-10, 15-9 over Nagaland to earn the gold medal.
Meanwhile in the Regu event, Manipur girls suffered a 16-17, 10-15 final loss to Kerala to settle for the silver medal.
Earlier in the league round, Manipur sealed straight sets wins over Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab before defeating Maharashtra 15-12, 15-9 in the quarterfinal.
Manipur then reached the final with a 15-6, 15-12 win over Delhi.
Meanwhile, the State boys grabbed the Regu event gold by defeating Delhi 15-11, 15-13 in the title clash today.
Having registered straight sets victories against HP, Telangana, Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh in the league round, Manipur defeated West Bengal 15-5, 15-6 in the quarterfinal and edged out Bihar 15-9, 13-15, 15-11 in the semi-final to set up the final date with Delhi.
In the Quad event, Manipur defeated West Bengal 15-10, 15-3 in the quarterfinal and got the better of Bihar 15-13, 15-10 in the semi-final to enter the final.
Earlier in the league round, Manipur had defeated Karnataka, Punjab, and Uttarakhand in straight sets before pulling off a 15-5, 13-15, 15-5 comeback win against Odisha and confirmed their place in the quarterfinals.
