IMPHAL, Jan 5 : A surprise inspection was conducted today at M/S Kangleipak Service Station, Luwangsangbam in Imphal East today to check the quantity as well as density/quality of the motor spirit (MS), high-speed diesel (HSD) sold at the retail outlet.
The inspection team was led by Haobam Bobby Singh, Officer on Special Duty (POL), CAF&PD and accompanied by representatives of Weights and Measures Department, CAF&PD, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Nayara Energy Limited (NEL), as per a press note issued by the Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
The team also collected the nozzle sample of the MS and HSD to further test the quality of the collected sample at the laboratory through IOCL Imphal.
According to the press note, the joint inspection team will continue their checks at other retail outlets (oil pumps) operating in Manipur.
If the collected sample is found to be adulterated or to be beyond/below the permissible limit (variation) as per the Bureau of India Standards (BIS), the State Government will initiate appropriate necessary action to cease/close down the concerned oil pump as per the existing rules/laws in the interest of the public.
The Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has urged everyone concerned to cooperate with the inspection team and appealed the public to inform or submit a written complaint in case of any suspicious pilferage or adulteration of petrol products.
