IMPHAL, Jan 5: A team of officials led by Principal Secretary, Works, Arun Kumar Sinha and PWD Chief Engineer Chongtham Bishwachandra inspected various projects being taken up under the Manipur Urban Road, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project (MURDAMIP) in Imphal.
MURDAMIP is a major infrastructure initiative for Greater Imphal, funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
It aims to upgrade 547 Km of roads to durable concrete, improve drainage systems and other infrastructure including building capacity for the Public Works Department (PWD) to manage assets.
Executive Engineer Laishram Max Singh and contractors and officials of Keystone Infra Private Limited took part in the inspection.
The officials inspected works including black-topping, construction of con- crete pavement road and drainage works at several sites.
The sites inspected include Khwairak Selungba Road, Lamdeng Solid Waste Road, New Assembly Road, Imphal Kangchup Road, Nagamapal Road, RIMS Road, Laishram Leirak Road etc.
While the projects have a 3-year period, the Principal Secretary Work, during the inspection, urged the contractors and officials concerned to complete the projects early in the interest of the public.
