IMPHAL, Jan 5 : Condemnations have poured in from different quarters over the explosions at Saiton Nganukon in Bishnupur district this morning which left two people injured.
Notably, Soibam Sanatomba Singh (52) and Nongthombam Indubala Devi (37) were wounded by bomb shrapnels in the blast.
Strongly condemning the "bomb attack", the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has demanded a detailed investigation into the incident and stringent action against the responsible "individuals or terrorist groups".
AMUCO has further urged the Government of India to put precautionary measures in place to protect innocent citizens from such unfortunate incidents in the future.
Denouncing the incident, the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) asserted that it is the duty of the Government to safeguard the lives, wealth and properties of its citizens.
Questioning if the deployment of Central Security Forces after May 3, 2023 holds any meaning, MSF maintained that the public has lost all faith in them.
MSF has also urged the indigenous communities of Manipur to be led by the ideals of unity, recognize the nefarious designs seeking to cause enmity between groups and eliminate the wedges driven among various communities.
Decrying the bomb blasts, Khongbantabam Ibomcha, MLA, Lamlai AC said the "heinous act" is a deliberate attempt to sabotage the ongoing peace process and aimed to create fear and confusion among the public, with the ulterior motive of prolonging the violence in Manipur.
In a press release, the MLA urged the PR Government to act swiftly and decisively at the earliest to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,
"Such prompt action is essential to dispel doubts, restore confidence and prevent any recurrence of violence. Peace and stability must not be allowed to be undermined by such acts of terror", said Kh Ibomcha.
Manipur Loumi Lup (MLL) has also condemned the incident and called for swift arrest and appropriate punishment for the culprits.
It has further demanded the Manipur DGP and Security Advisor to probe the alleged inaction of the CRPF personnel stationed in the vicinity of the explosion site.
MLL went on to recall the recent gun and bomb attacks on returning IDPs by Kuki assailants at Torbung and Phougakchao Ikhai on the evening of December 16, 2025. It said that the PR Government's failure to identify and arrest the perpetrators behind the attack to this day is evidence of Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla's weakness.
In a joint press release, the All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur have also condemned today's unfortunate incident which caused fear and apprehension among the locals and injured two innocent civilians.
Terming it as a "terrorist act", the press note said the failure of the Central and Manipur Government to resolve the ongoing conflict has resulted in the repeated occurrence of such "terror incidents".
Demanding the authorities to apprehend the culprits responsible for the blasts, it cautioned that more intense "acts of terror" might continue to plague the State until the perpetrators are put behind bars.
