IMPHAL, Jan 5 : Thangmeiband Youth PC and Ebudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup registered contrasting wins to progress into the last-16 stage of the 39th Men’s State Polo Tournament being organised by the All Manipur Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the third match of the tournament, Thangmeiband Youth PC devastated UPC-B by 10-0 goals riding on trebles from O Paikhomba and P Krishnakumar.
Saolin, P Danish, Swarna Kangjam, and K Victor were also on target as Thangmeiband Youth PC enjoyed a 4-0 first chukker lead and a 6-0 second chukker lead before scoring four more goals in the third chukker.
Later in the day, Ebudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup edged out Arvind PC-A by 6-5 goals in a keenly contested clash.
Arvind PC-A took a 2-1 first chukker lead as K Bonyson and Ak Ibomcha scored for the team against one by N Sadananda for Ebudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup but the latter team drew level as Sadananda scored his second in the second chukker.
The two sides remained locked at 4-4 after three chukker as N Sadananda and H Pritam scored a goal apiece for Ebudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup against two goals scored by H Muhindro for Arvind PC-A.
H Pritam added his second goal for Ebudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup in the fifth minute of the fourth chukker that also saw K Bonyson scored his second to make it 5-5 before N Premananda made all the difference by scoring the winner in the closing minute for Ebudhou Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup.
