NCC cadets resume flying training

IMPHAL, Jan 9 : After a gap of three years, cadets of the Churachandpur Air Wing, 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC, have resumed flying training at the North Eastern Region (NER) Flying Camp in Dimapur from January 5 to January 14, 2026 under the leadership of Commanding Officer Wing Commander Mutum Sandip Singh.
As part of the flying schedule, cadets were afforded the unique opportunity to fly the microlight aircraft Virus SW-80 as co-pilots, gaining practical exposure to flight operations and cockpit coordination.
According to a statement issued by 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC, Imphal, the achievement was made possible through the concerted efforts of instructors, support staff and dedicated support of Indian Air Force personnel.
The presence and guidance of Wing Commander Mutum Sandip Singh during the camp also served as a strong motivator for the cadets and reinforced the core NCC values of discipline, resilience, and teamwork, added the statement.
The restoration of flying training has marked a significant milestone for the unit.
