Manipur Police and Assam Rifles, in a coordinated joint operation on Saturday, January 31, 2026, busted a major drug consignment in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.
The operation resulted in the recovery of highly addictive methamphetamine tablets valued at over Rs 16 crore in the regional black markets and the arrest of one drug peddler.
Officials reported on Sunday that, based on specific intelligence, the joint forces conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Tengnoupal, which shares an international boundary with Myanmar.
During the operation, the team recovered 8.3 Kg of methamphetamine tablets, also known as “World is Yours” (WY), from a vehicle. The arrested individual was identified as Houlim Tongkhokai Mate, 33.
The seizure occurred at a location under the jurisdiction of the Tengnoupal police station. Items recovered from his possession included approximately 8.3 Kg of WY (methamphetamine) tablets, a four-wheeler Maruti Suzuki Wagon R bearing registration number WB 06 J3605, a smartphone, an Aadhaar card, and a Voter ID card.
The seized contraband, the apprehended individual, and the vehicle were handed over to the relevant police station for further investigation.
Officials stated that the action reinforces the commitment of law enforcement agencies to curb drug trafficking and protect society.
Additionally, based on reports from late 2025 and early 2026, the price of “World is Yours” methamphetamine tablets in the regional black market, particularly along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur and Mizoram, varies significantly depending on proximity to the border and the quantity transported. Regional black market prices near the Manipur-Mizoram border indicate a valuation of approximately Rs 2.3 crore to Rs 3 crore per kilogram, or roughly Rs 25,000 per packet of 1,000 tablets, in local, near-border, or clandestine markets.
