Model Club, PTRC win as 10th MNCA Elite Trophy 2025-26 commences

IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha and PTRC, Patsoi Part IV emerged victorious as the 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy 2025-26 got underway.
Model Club kicked off their campaign with a 57-run victory over CRAU, Khamnam Bazar at Lairenjam Public Ground.
Asked to bat first, Model Club amassed 228 runs for all wickets down in 40 overs courtesy of a big half century from M Langlonyamba (64-ball 93; 8 fours and 3 sixes) before they bundled out toss winners CRAU for 171 runs in 36.5 overs riding on a concerted efforts from the bowlers.
Irungbam Tonton 32 off 42, Jaali Chisti Ahmed 26 off 57 and Y Suson 17 off 9 also made major contributions for Model Club in the innings that saw L Rojer 4/31, Bm Sabakhan 2/42, L Jotin 1/58 and H Joyhenba 1/29 sharing 8 wickets for CRAU.
In reply, Ph Jodash 48 off 30 and L Jotin 36 off 47 led the CRAU chase that closed at 171 as Waikhom Priyokumar 3/41, N Anand 2/17, M Langlonyamba 2/15 and Y Suson 2/43 shared 9 crucial wickets for Model Club.
Langlonyamba who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, PTRC registered a 26-run victory over CYCLONE, Thangmeiband by defending their total of 150 runs for all wickets down in 34.2 overs.
Ngariyanbam Johnson scored a 77-ball 50 while RK Rex  added 24 off 37 balls and Ph Jotin added 21 off 24 to help PTRC raise a modest total of 150 runs in 34.2 overs.
Reolin Oinam 3/34, N Denin 2/16 and L Kishan 2/24 shared 7 wickets for CYCLONE to trouble the PTRC line up after they won the toss and opted to field first.
Chasing 151 for the victory, CYCLONE struggled from the beginning and slumped to 124 all out within 26 overs as Jotin Pheiroijam wrecked havoc by sweeping 5 wickets alone (5/20 in 7 overs) with the assistance of Kh Santosh (2/15).
Md Aqeel 15 off 29 and Md Al Bashid 26 off 50 were the leading run getters for CYCLONE in this innings that also saw K Bishworjit (1/21), RK Rex (1/38) and Ph Tamarland (1/25) sharing three wickets.
Jotin Pheiroijam was eventually adjudged player of the match.
