Pambei-led UNLF celebrates MPA raising day

IMPHAL, Feb 9: The Pambei-led UNLF has celebrated the 39th raising day of its armed wing, Manipur People’s Army (MPA) at the MPA general headquarters, brigades and battalions.
The main function of the raising day was held at the Ghqs where MPA’s Chief of  Army Staff unfurled the MPA flag, said a press release issued by the outfit’s DOP&E Secretary Charairongba Thokchom.
The gathering also paid homage to all the leaders and revolutionary fighters who have laid down their lives in the course of the liberation movement by observing silence for two minutes.
The gathering led by the party’s Acting Chairman also paid floral tributes to the martyrs at their memorial tomb.
Speaking on the occasion, the outfit’s Central Committee leaders gave an account of the early years of MPA and the responsibility of MPA cadres in the revolutionary movement    
MPA Chief of Army Staff Khuraijam Khoimu, Acting Chairman Thokchom Khambaton and Vice Chairman Khundongbam Laanjingba attended the function held at the general headquarters as president, chief guest and guest of honour respectively. General Secretary Salam Nongdol, Defence Secretary Naorem Loya, Secretary Finance Sinam Pankhei, Secretary External & Regional Affairs Khundrakpam Sanahal, Secretary Organisation Khuraijam Ibudhou, Deputy Secretary Finance & Secretary Health and Family Welfare Takhellambam Thajalemba and Secretary Human Resource Development, Publicity & Education  Charairongba Thokchom were also seated on the dais.
The raising day was also celebrated at MPA’s 291 Bn, 293 Bn, 294 Bn, 241 Bn, 242 Bn, 243 Bn, Zulu Bn and task force camps, it said. The outfit also conveyed gratitude to all the people who took part in the MPA raising day celebrations.
