Budget hailed

IMPHAL, Feb 9 : The Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been hailed by people as an inclusive budget that will fulfil the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat mission, said Cabinet Minister Govindas Konthoujam.  
Speaking at a press conference at BJP Thambal Shanglen, today, the Cabinet Minister said that the Budget leaves no sectors uncovered.
In the case of Manipur, the Budget will provide support to those engaged in handlooms and handicrafts and other small businesses.
There are also provisions for girls-only hostels in every district of the State, which is a step in the right direction to ensure their safety, he said.
Under the Union Budget 2026, heritage and eco-tourism will receive a boost while archaeological sites can be upgraded.
With special focus on economic growth and fiscal consolidation, the Budget  addresses welfare initiatives for the middle class, skill development and supply of manpower to bring about a better and developed India.
Youth employment, boosting MSMEs, reduced imports, ushering in long-term growth, promoting exports are covered in Union Budget 2026.
Other key aspects covered in the Budget include strengthening the Indian semiconductor ecosystem, self-reliance in food production, ensuring social justice, development of all sections of the population, student focused education reforms and increased focus and funding of the education and medical sector to bring India at the forefront of the global race, he said.
The press briefing was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president and former Minister Oinam Lukhoi; general secretary Pangambam Premananda Meitei and vice president L Meenabanta.
