34th Manipur State Taekwondo Championship UTA lead tally in sub-junior boys’ competition as TTS and NSA top junior boys and girls’ competitions

IMPHAL, Feb 9 : UTA led the sub-junior boys’ competition tally in the 34th Manipur State Taekwondo Championship with 3 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals on Day 2 of the championship.
PTA followed with 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals as BTA managed 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the age group competition. The day also saw IMRTA, ASTA, NSA, KTA, TTS, LTA and TSL also registering a gold medal apiece in the category. UTA’s Thounaojam Panthoiba claimed the +50 kg category competition of the age group today by beating Ksh Tejrendro of STTS while PTA’s S Korounganba and Leimapokpam Vedajit of LFC secured the bronze medals.
NSA’s Yumnam Humlennganba meanwhile picked the U-50 kg category gold medal by getting better of M Justin of MTA in the final as T Dujaraj and Ch Yaibilen shared the bronze medal podium.
Pheiroijam Dikash of PTA meanwhile sealed the U-35 kg category gold by defeating Himalay Athokpam of UTA in the final today as Kh Lamnganba of LTA sealed the U-38 kg category gold medal by getting better of Maisnam Mario in the final bout.
UTA’s Okram Barun sealed the U-41 kg category gold as he beat M Nicholas of MTA in the title clash while Oinam Yaithoiba of TSL claimed the U-44 kg category gold by defeating TAP’s M Victor in the final.
Ethan Kshetrimayum of UTA (U-16 kg), Thounaojam Mangal of PTA (U-18 kg), Kh Nongdam of KTA (U-21 kg), Y Daniel (U-23 kg), W Unique of BTA (U-25 kg), Th Athouba of IMRTA (U-27 kg), Ngangom Punshiba of BTA (U-29 kg) and H Alvish (U-32 kg) also won gold medals in their respective weight classes of the age group competition.
TTS Nambol sweep Junior boys’ competition gold
The second day of the championship being underway at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium also saw TTS Nambol dominating the junior boys’ competition with 5 gold medals and 4 bronze medals.
Moirangthem Nivasis claimed a gold medal in the U-45 kg category competition beating TTA Khangabok’s Saikhom Imoba in the final as compatriot Nongthombam Bikash claimed the U-48 kg category title by defeating N Lamnganba of NSA.
TTA Khangabok’s Saikhom Nungshiba registered the gold medal in the U-51 kg category competition by defeating Ngasepam Yugesh in the final as Thongam Maximus of TTS Nambol sealed the U-55 kg category gold by beating Irom Naoboy of NSA in the final.
PTA’s Phairenbam Bidyananda meanwhile won the U-59 kg category gold by defeating Nahakpam Max of LFC in the final as TTS Nambol’s Okram Daman won the U-63 kg category gold by defeating H Alvason of NSA; NSA’s Akoijam Jibago beat KTA’s N Stallone for the U-68 kg category gold and Pukhrambam Manisana of TTS Nambol beat L Punshiba of CTI for the U-73 kg category title.
UTA’s Jemsana RK on the other hand won the U-78 kg category title by defeating W Mahesh of LFC in the final while the +78 kg category title went to Keisham Loveson of UST.
NSA top junior girls’ competition
NSA meanwhile secured pole position in the junior girls’ competition securing 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals across 10 weight classes. LTA meanwhile finished second with 3 gold medals as HTA, TTA Khangabok and TTS Nambol claimed one gold medal apiece.
NSA’s Kongbrailatpam Sonia secured the U-49 kg category gold medal by beating compatriot Thoudam Dolly in the final. The other NSA athletes who picked gold medals include Abujam Lanchenbi, who beat CTI’s Th Urvashi in the U-55 kg category final; K Malemnganbi, who beat RK Delfina of IMRTA in the U-59 kg category final; and Phurailatpam Gharluxmi, who beat LFC’s Thiyam Tristy in the U-63 kg category final.
Meanwhile, LTA’s Oinam Malemnganba bagged the U-44 kg category gold medal by getting better of UTA’s Kh Yaichenbi before Thiyam Jibanlata extended the gold medal haul by beating Th Julia of NSA in the U-52 kg category final and Ksh Lingjel beat N Seliya of UTA in the U-68 kg category final.
Elangbam Nancy of TTA Khangabok (U-42 kg), Sanasam Velena of TTS Nambol (U-46 kg) and Wahengbam Deepali of HTA (+68 kg) also sealed gold medals in their respective weight category competitions.
