Dr Palin honoured as ‘Torch Bearer of Quality Healthcare in NE India’

Imphal, Feb 9 : Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt Ltd has announced that Dr Palin Khundongbam, Chairman and Managing Director, was honoured as the “Torch Bearer of Quality Healthcare in North East India”.
The recognition was presented on February 7, 2026, at the inaugural North East Quality Conclave 2026, held at the NEDFi Convention Centre in Guwahati.
The conclave was a collaborative effort, organised by GNRC Hospitals in partnership with the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO) and the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) North East Chapter.
The event also acknowledged other distinguished contributors to the region's healthcare sector, including Dr Narendra Nath Dutta of Downtown Hospital, Guwahati; Dr Harsha Bhattacharjee of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati; and Prof Subhash Khanna of Swagat Hospitals Pvt Ltd.
Shija Hospitals has consistently prioritized quality and patient safety, being the first hospital in the state to receive ISO certification in 2006. The institution achieved full NABH accreditation on July 13, 2023. Both the Shija Blood Center and its laboratory hold further accreditations from NABH and NABL, respectively.
In his address, Dr Palin emphasized that quality prioritization leads to a measurable reduction in avoidable medical errors, public grievances, and litigation.
Dr Palin serves as the North East Regional Lead for the Health and Environment Leadership Platform (HELP), advocating for environmentally sustainable healthcare practices.
