Airport Director urges full fare refund

IMPHAL, Feb 10 : Director of Imphal Airport, Chipemmi Keishing has written to four airlines viz IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air to issue full refunds for cancelled tickets due to the ongoing law and order situation in Ukhrul.
The recommendation pertains to passengers from Ukhrul and surrounding areas.
In the letter, the Director noted that a serious law and order at Litan Village involving arson and violence has led to the closure of Imphal-Ukhrul route.
Saying that surface transportation has been severely disrupted and several passengers from Ukhrul and adjoining areas were unable to reach Imphal Airport to board their scheduled flights, he added that they have received multiple requests for cancellation and full refund of the airfare.
As these circumstances were unavoidable and beyond the passengers' control, he said the cases are genuine.
In view of the situation, the Imphal Airport Director recommended that the airlines concerned approve the cancellations and grant full refunds as a justified and humanitarian measure for the affected.
