‘No new cases of violence at Litan’

IMPHAL, Feb 11 : Cabinet Minister Govindas Konthoujam has stated that no new cases of violence have occurred at Litan, Ukhrul, since the midnight of February 10.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of Samarpan Diwas at Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek, he explained that adequate security measures have been implemented in the area to protect lives and properties.
Emphasising that the Government is actively working to prevent the situation at Litan from escalating,  he reiterated that there have been no untoward incidents since February 10.
He appealed to both the Kuki and Naga communities to exercise restraint, stating that violence will not lead to any positive outcomes.
Even a single matchstick could spark widespread destruction, the Minister cautioned.
Saying that he is in touch with the DGP constantly, the Minister assured that more security forces will be deployed at Litan if necessary.
To another query, Govindas stated that the new State Government, led by Chief Minister Y Khemchand, is working to restore complete normalcy in Manipur.
He also said that the Chief Minister has been holding meetings with his Council of Ministers to discuss law and order issues in the State.
Govindas further appealed to all Manipuris to unite as one and contribute to the State's development.
