CM, LS MP join hands to launch SpiceJet service Mumbai now just a flight away

Imphal, Feb 10 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has launched direct SpiceJet flights from Imphal to Guwahati, Kolkata, and Mumbai at Imphal Airport today.
In a symbolic gesture, the Chief Minister, along with Lok Sabha (Congress) MP Dr Angomcha Akoijam, inaugurated the service by cutting the ribbon together and sharing a cake.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, underscoring its pivotal role in achieving Viksit Manipur.
He noted that during these difficult times, air travel has become the preferred mode of transport for travelling outside the State.
People have been relying heavily on air travel due to issues along the highways, he said and added that the introduction of SpiceJet services will surely enhance air connectivity in the State.
He asked the airline company to review the airfares ensuring affordability.
As part of the event, the Chief Minister presented the boarding pass to the first passenger of the SpiceJet flight to Guwahati.
Hijam ongbi Roma, a passenger, stated that the introduction of an additional airline in Manipur will undoubtedly benefit the people, given the growing importance of air connectivity.
The programme was also attended by MLAs Tongbram Robindro Singh, Khashim Vashum, Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai, Transport Director Khumanthem Diana, Imphal West Superintendent of Police Ksh  Shivakanta Singh and officials of Airport Authority of India among others.
