IMPHAL, Feb 12: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand today launched an official web portal of Manipur Heli Services apart from flagging off two interceptor vehicles.
The Chief Minister launched the web portal at the closing function of National Road Safety Month 2026 held at the City Convention Centre.
Speaking at the function as the chief guest, Khemchand assured that the new Government will work to improve roads and transport infrastructure in order to reduce incidents of road accidents.
In addition to flagging off two interceptor vehicles, the Chief Minister also presented commendation certificates to Traffic Police personnel and staff of the Transport Department who booked maximum e-challans last year.
Khemchand also distributed traffic control kits to District Transport Officers and Traffic Police officers.
The interceptor vehicles flagged off today are equipped with machines which can detect and identify traffic rule violators.
The interceptor vehicles are equipped with high definition cameras, 4D radar and breath analyzers.
These vehicles will identify traffic rule violators like over-speeding and riding  two-wheelers without helmets, and send e-challans in real time.
The kits handed over to DTOs and Traffic Police Officers included breath analyzers, spring post, delineator post, baton light, fluorescent reflective jacket, traffic cone, handcuff, wheel clamp, speed gun, hand-held megaphone, helmet and raincoat. Cabinet Minister Govindas Konthoujam, while pointing out that around 1.8 lakh deaths due to road accidents are reportedly annually in India, highlighted the importance of strictly enforcing traffic rules.
Speaking at the function, Cabinet Minister Khuraijam Loken emphasised the importance of making every citizen aware of traffic rules.
Chief Secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel and Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai too attended the function as presidium members.
As a part of the function, prizes were distributed to winners of a marathon race  and a painting competition held earlier in connection with the National Road Safety Month on the theme “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha”.
A short film was also screened. MLAs, Administrative Secretaries and school students too attended the function.
