FAM celebrates foundation day

IMPHAL, Feb 12 : The 21st foundation day celebration of Film Academy Manipur (FAM) along with the award distribution ceremony of 2nd Open Short Film Competition 2025-26 was conducted today at Manipur Press Club.
The event was organised by FAM in collaboration with All Manipur Film Producers Association (AMFPA).
Speaking as the chief guest, RK Nimai, retd IAS, emphasized the contribution of films to Manipuri society and called for their upliftment along with production of meaningful films.
Special guest L Surjakanta Sharma, who was also jury chairperson of the 2nd Open Short Film Competition, said in order to elevate Manipuri films at the global level, there is a need for stellar storylines.
FAM advisor S Mangoljao highlighted the lack of a proper filmmaking institute in Manipur.
FAM has continued to produce many talented artists. Many of them have worked successfully in notable Manipuri feature films, he said.
Other dignitaries present at the event include Khomdram Rojit, managing director, FAM; Somen Moirangcha, president, AMFPA and Santa Nahakpam, secretary general, United Committee Manipur.
Prizes were handed over to the winners of the 2nd Open Short Film Competition 2025-26 while Ngangbam Swarnajit was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
