IMPHAL, Feb 12: The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) observed its 33rd foundation day at its head-office at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai today.
AMUCO president Sanjoy Sorokhaibam and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Soraisam Memcha attended the foundation day celebration as presidium members which was opened with the unfurling of the organisation’s flag.
This was followed by offering of floral tributes and a two-minute silence in memory of the departed members of AMUCO.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjoy Sorokhaibam conveyed best wishes to all people of Manipur.
He said that AMUCO always stands firm against any attempt or policy to create divisions and anarchy in the society.
Everybody has a responsibility towards building a new Manipur where all the people live together in peace and harmony, he said.
“The policy of driving wedges among us has not stopped today and it will not stop tomorrow too. The enemy’s attempt to annihilate us is not a recent thing”, the AMUCO president said.
Soon after Manipur was merged into the Indian Union in 1949, several black laws were enforced in the State. All such diabolic policies of India must be faced collectively, he said.
Sanjoy then asked the Government of India to stop its proxy war in Manipur immediately.
The Government of India is more than capable of resolving the violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023 but New Delhi has been spreading venom among the communities with an intention to fragment Manipur, he said.
Emboldened by the open support given by Indian armed forces, armed Kukis repeatedly attacked Meiteis  and the Kuki aggression has not stopped yet.
The sustained aggression has not only traumatized the people but has also severely impacted the economy, Sanjoy said.
He then questioned why the Government of India has been plotting continuously to create enmity and ignite communal conflict among the people of Manipur.
Had the crisis seen in Manipur happened in any big State of India, the Government of India would have controlled and resolved it a long time back.
By letting Manipur burn for such a long time, the Government of India has been working to suppress Manipur, the AMUCO president alleged.
AMUCO has no grievances against any section of people but it has deep grievances against the Government of India because everyone knows what they are up to, he said.
He went on to question why the Government of India has been treating the people of Manipur like slaves after forcibly annexing the erstwhile independent Nation.
Sanjoy said that AMUCO has been talking with all the communities of Manipur and the hill people have even suggested working together in order to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
The North East Indigenous Games and Cultural Exchange Programme scheduled for February 23 to 25 will be participated by all communities, he added.
