Hana Bank Scholarship

IMPHAL, Feb 13 : A total of Rs 30 lakh in scholarships has been handed over to 60 students of Manipur University by Hana Bank, a well-known South Korean financial institution.
The Hana Bank Scholarship was distributed at a ceremony held today at the conference hall of Manipur Institute of Management Studies, MU.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Hyunkyung Lee, Visiting Professor, Department of Foreign Languages, MU said that the Korean Language Program was launched in 2012 at MU with a one-year certification course.
The BA, MA and Korean Language PhD programs were subsequently launched in 2020, 2023 and 2025 respectively.
In 2025, more than 75% of the BA and MA graduates secured positions in leading Korean companies such as Samsung and LG as well as in Korean banks and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in India.
Starting this year for the first time, Hana Bank has distributed scholarships to 60 MU students from the Korean Language Program and 15 other other programs such as Southeast Asian Studies, East Asian Studies, Philosophy, History, Economics, Management and Business Administration, among others, he said.
Notable dignitaries present at the event include Professor Dr S Jibonkumar, Anthropology, MU; Yongju Lee, CEO, Hana Bank in India; Dr Ksh Narayan, president, MUTA and Dr Ahanthem Romita, Head, Department of Foreign Languages, MU.
