IMPHAL, Feb 12 : Alleging that the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University (MU) and certain faculty members are involved in a large-scale recruitment scam, the Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has announced that it will file a complaint with the CBI.
In a statement, KSA claimed that the ongoing recruitment process for non-teaching staff at MU is a scam.
It alleged that the recruitment rule (CRR), which the authorities claim is being used for the recruitment of non-teaching staff, has not been approved by the Visitor of the university (the President of India).
KSA further stated that the Ministry of Education had written to the Registrar of MU on May 25, 2023, informing that recruitment could not proceed until the CRR is officially approved.
It cautioned that proceeding with the recruitment process forcefully would victimize many aspiring candidates.
Noting that the tenure of the MU Vice Chancellor will expire on May 7, 2026, KSA alleged that the VC is attempting to push forward the recruitment process by any means.
The Association added that it will file a complaint with the CBI regarding the matter.
KSA also claimed that some faculty members of MU are violating professional ethics by engaging in contract work (thika) and spending most of their time at the VC’s office instead of being present in their own departments.
Terming them as "oja thikadars," KSA stated that it will expose their misdeeds and file a complaint against them with the Central Vigilance Commission, UGC, Ministry of Education, and other relevant authorities.
